Have your nails vanished over the fast few weeks… mine did when I was taking CAT. However, let panic not set into your habit. Here are some quick tips to ensure that you do not goof up during the Online test this year.

1. Pouring into books does not make any sense at this point of time. Instead identify your strengths and weak areas and play hard on them. Play questions online or carry previously attempted MOCK CATs and attempt random questions from it. Try and find newer/quicker ways of solving the same question.
2. I hope you have been practicing online. If not, don’t waste any more time. Get CAT PRO test suite for Rs. 200/- now and attempt tests every day online. Buy CAT PRO test suite (It is worth it!) .Infact also log on to the ‘teaser a day’ section and get a feel of doing RCs and DI online. 3. I know you have been trying hard to develop a newspaper reading habit. With CAT moving online, here’s and added advantage.Now you need not subscribe to newspapers. Read articles on http://www.time.com/ ; http://india.wsj.com/home-page; http://businesstoday.intoday.in/. Try and go through archives as well. You may be lucky and find an article which appears ditto in CAT. Understand that, this can be your winning card this year.
4. Keep your mind at real ‘work’ in office – Create your twitter id and add CAT PRO as your friend . Here is the link to the Twitter Page
5. Build faith in yourself. Keep repeating that you have the power to do it and you will crack CAT 2009.

The National Management Aptitude Test (NMAT) conducted by Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), for MBA, Part time MBA and Ph.D. aspirants, will be an Online Test from 2010, the institute has announced.

NMIMS has a total number of 420 seats available – offering 300 seats under the MBA programme, 30 seats under the MBA (Banking) programme, 30 seats under MBA (Capital market) programme , 30 seats under MBA (Actuarial Science), 60 seats under MBA (Pharmaceutical Management) programme.

“The online move will help in handling a huge number of candidates as the estimated projection for 2009 is of fifty thousand plus compared to forty six thousand candidates last year”, an institute official told NNE.

NMAT comprises of three sections- Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Analysis and Logical Reasoning carrying equal weight age.

It further implies that the online exam concept is not mere ideation but a step that will promote participation and openness to a wider extent among aspirants and build an environment conducive to learning and growth.

AHMEDABAD: Applications for the common admission test (CAT) of the coveted Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and 150 other B-schools have come down by 12% over last year, its first annual dip in over a decade, as aspirants wait for the economy to pick up pace before they pursue a management course.

Last year, 2.76 lakh applications were registered, but only 2.46 lakh finally took the test. This year, the number of applications itself has dipped to 2.41 lakh.

CAT registrations have been going up annually by double digits since 1998, and the past three years had seen a growth rate of 20-25%.

There has also been an increase in the number of candidates with work experience this year, with 71% of all candidates claiming work experience of more than six months. Most students who registered have a technical background, and female candidates constitute 26% of the total pool.

Unlike last year, candidates from the technological field dominated, with 65% having a background in engineering and architecture. A total 23% belonged to commerce, economics and management background and the rest are from arts and science.

Although the number of applications have dropped but the competition will definitely be worse.
